"The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras"

Early one morning after a big rain I was over to Angles to buy a new refrigerator at Middleton's.  The air was so perfectly clean and the whole town looked so beautiful I stopped to play tourist for a few minutes.  This was my first time ever to stop to see the Altaville School.

I like this shot with the shadow of the tree oak tree that is reflected in the window.

'Ol Beth' sits in front of the tiny Angels Camp Museum.

A happy discovery was finding clear views of the old buildings when the leaves are off the trees.

It will be a sad day if this place is ever repaired. It's perfect just the way it is!

The Utica House sign is also usually hidden by the leaves.  (Family trivia.....Auntie lived here early in her nursing career while working at the San Andreas Hospital.  I won't mention the year! :)

Another cool reflection.....the Odd Fellows Hall in the window of the Utica House.

No visit to Angels Camp would be complete without mention of "The Celebrated Frog of Calaveras",  Mark Twain's first really big writing success in 1865.  Sugar is one of the winners of the famous contest memorialized in brass tiles in the side walk on Main Street.
